I have often found myself questioning the actions of Jesus when He cast devils out of an individual. What was He actually doing and what was actually being accomplished? In other words, what was really happening?

Just as a seed must fall into the fertile ground and over a process of time will begin to grow, the same has happened concerning these questions. Maybe you don’t question what happened because you have believed the general consensus of Christendom that Jesus was “literally” casting out some sort of  “imps” that were part of a very organized army ruled by this one called Satan and these horrendous creatures (who are said to be fallen angels) have overcome and now control this individual. However, that belief proves to be a problem when one realizes WHO Satan IS! For those not yet enlightened, Satan is NOT the personality we’ve been led to believe he is by the majority of Christendom. Go ahead, fill in the blanks as to who you believe him to be.

·        Is he this red-suited ugly creature with horns, tail, and a pitchfork?

·        What about the most beautiful angel God ever created but fell from his exalted position?

·        The praise and worship director in heaven?

·        Lucifer?

·        A talking snake in the Garden of Eden?

·        The one who afflicted Job with God’s permission?

Now the hints and suggestions that have been presented to the world as to the identity and description of this so-called fallen being are rather amusingly more often correct than not when viewed from the correct perspective. For as the attributes listed as the description of Satan are God-less, evil, deceitful, foolish, sneaky, ugly, etc., the same holds true for the true definition of the real Satan.

Would the “real” devil please stand up!

As all the above aliases make a pretended effort to rise, we find the true identity slowly rising to its feet to remain standing revealing the mistaken identity hidden for years…the carnal mind of man—one ruled by his senses, thus living a life comprised of pacifying and pleasing himself. The truth is, if you have Satan as any thing other than YOUR carnal “mind” then you might want to reconsider your position. The only “personality” Satan has been or can ever be is the one YOU allow him to be! You will be THAT personality if you so desire and allow it. You will not find any other personality called Satan outside of yourself! So you can quit fearing this enemy you’ve been taught to be on guard for and against, and simply look within yourself and there you will discover the arch-enemy of all the heavenly forces.

Now before you begin to gather stones, allow the Spirit of Truth to direct your heart and mind to “hear” the Word. Open your heart and let the seed fall into the fertile ground and begin to grow. If you do, then you too will begin to recognize who the real enemy of your soul really is!

Will the “real” devil please stand up!

Before proceeding, it is imperative to understand the differences that exist within the soul of every person. The soul is the part of man which can conceive, process, and birth thoughts. In it’s simplest form, we could call it a “womb.”  Your soul consists of  (1) the mind, that’s your ability to process;  (2) your emotions, that’s the ability to respond (3) your will, that’s the ability to act, to bring it to pass.

There are two minds within every person. One is founded upon reality, the other concocted by illusion. One mind is called the Adamic mind, the one you’ve developed and taught so well by living according to “sense” knowledge known as sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell. The other mind,  is called the Christ mind and is the one mostly ignored yet recognized when certain definitions are described. The Adamic mind is the “Seat of Satan.” The Christ mind is the “Throne-room of God.”  The Adamic mind is referred to as the “Kingdom of Darkness” whereas the Christ mind is the “Kingdom of Light.” Demons or devils reside in the Adamic mind while angels or messengers occupy the Christ mind.

To describe these events more clearly, let’s look closer at these two warring authorities found within the lives of each person. Since the illusive Adamic mind is the easiest to recognize and identify with, we’ll start with that one first.

The Adamic mind is the one that exists strictly by eating the tree of knowledge of good AND evil. In other words, the five senses are the grappling hooks that feed this knowledge hungry soul every tidbit of information it receives. In actuality, these sensory perceptions are nothing more that electrical signals that send impulses to the brain which, in turn, interprets the signals and converts it to “form of knowledge.” As we’ve come to realize, electricity is nothing more than a form of fire and upon that realization a proverb of Solomon comes to mind to remind us that the fire cannot say, “It is enough!” Just as the Adamic mind can never say, “It is enough!” This is demonstrated in every facet of life lived by the senses. If it is by sight…It is never enough, it always wants more. If it’s by touch or feelings, it is never enough, it will always want for more. If it’s by taste, it will never be enough…because as fire so adeptly illustrates, it never says… ENOUGH! We find this performance acted out on the stage of everyday life. To the one who has experienced the “fire” (electrical impulses to the brain) of “illusionary sensory perceptions,” the “fire” is found to need additional fuel as it grows hotter and hotter. So the newly formed “illusionist” finds that what used to be adequate a week or so before, now does NOT contain the “sensitivity” it once held. So one moves into “more” quality or maybe quantity experiences to attempt to encounter more “illusions” exceeding the event before. Yet, though blindly deceived, they stumble as in the dark, groping for knowledge gained through these senses, only to find out…the fire does not know how to say…IT IS ENOUGH! For the hotter the fire, the more fuel it will need, and the more fuel received, generates a much hotter fire resulting in a greater demand for even more fuel. This continues its vicious circle until the individual cannot take it anymore and gives up to the death of the thing…which is where this road always leads…to death! To be "carnally minded" is DEATH!

Illusions, conceptions, perceptions, etc. are all common events that happen everyday within the mind of one who lives according to this knowledge. This one is subjected to the wishes and whims of that mind. To understand how this is accomplished we need to realize what makes up this mind. It would help to understand that “devils” are nothing more than these sensitized thoughts that have taken up residency within the mind of an individual and assumed control of that area of the person’s mind which now control the beliefs and, inevitably, the actions of that individual. The one who has come under the control of these resident thoughts (devils) believes and lives as though he has no control over himself any longer and is held captive by the desires and wishes of those thoughts-turned-beliefs.

For instance, if you begin to harbor thoughts within yourself about a particular situation, you’ll soon begin to manifest actions supporting your new-found beliefs. It will not happen overnight, but just as a seed will come up and begin to grow, we find these seeds growing in the fertile soil of our mind as well. The soil know no difference as to the kind of seed. The same soil grew tares right along side the wheat.

I had a friend relate to me how over the past several years he had begun to experience claustrophobia. As he related these experiences, his own description showed how it began to grow and as it grew it manifested more and more. Even up to that very day, it was still growing…yet the unreality of it all, it was only in HIS mind! For as he told me certain instances of some recent experiences, I was amazed at how such trifle things had become a monumental mountain of belief to him and he believed it to be REAL! Obviously it was not real at all, for I placed myself in his shoes and found nothing whatsoever to fear. We have been friends for many years and have identical occupations and the same events he described as impossible for him to do, I have done many times with ease! So the question remains, where is the reality of those thoughts? To him that’s an absurd question for he believes it to be real. But I have found there is no fear whatsoever, the only fear to fear is fear itself.

I have flown on an airplane and possibly you have too, yet to him, the fear was so great he resorted to seeing a doctor to prescribe medication to calm his nerves just to be able to board the airplane. Here’s the amusing part, upon receiving “mind-altering” drugs he was fine and never gave it a second thought. The plane could have flew upside down from Point A to Point B and it would have not bothered him at all. Here’s the key, the drug “altered” his MIND! There’s the seat of SATAN! The Throne of Illusion! What you perceive by senses to be reality when “in reality” is NOT!

Devils or demons are “strongholds” of thoughts in your “mind” that have conquered your “will” and “emotions.” If you will notice, the “soul” of the man is now ruled or dominated by these thoughts (devils) and all actions or manifestations produced by this one is a direct result of these thoughts and is therefore controlled at will. In other words, possession has taken place and now the one ruled by these thoughts finds themselves hopelessly submitted to the task of carrying out the commands issued from within the fortified walls of these strongholds of thoughts. Just as my friend found himself held captive to his own thoughts fueled from within his own mind and was subjected to the bondage and actions rendered or as in his case, not rendered. His thoughts actually became a hindrance for him to participate in many “commonly enjoyed” things or activities because of his claustrophobic fear. So he became possessed by a devil, or as commonly called…demon possessed or oppressed…does not matter what term you use, it’s the same!

Please don’t let that term bother you as it tends to do because of the misconceptions religion has tended to apply to that term. On the other hand, it is not intended to sound as if being demon oppressed/possessed is a good thing either. Actually, all those I know who are bound by these soulish strongholds  want to be freed. But since there is this prevailing doctrine in the “religious” circles concerning casting out these devilish “creatures” most tend to run from any and all activity regarding these issues and furthermore reject most teaching on the matter.  Jesus never ran from anyone brought to him that were vexed by these devils. Actually, there is just as many (if not more) instances of casting out these devils as there were healings mentioned in the Gospels. This speaks to me of a problem as common as sickness or disease. Yet in our society, for one to be demon possessed is viewed as the “worst of worst” sinners! Yet if we were to pinpoint the problem, it all stems from the “hellish” thoughts one has allowed to planted in the seedbed of their heart.

Have you ever cast out a thought? Of course you have, matter of fact, you do it many times a day without ever realizing it. Have you ever stopped to consider you are casting down imaginations, principalities, and things that exalt itself against God. Satan, the carnal mind which is the accuser of the brethren, presents itself daily through this medium of thoughts called devils. If the seeds of accusations are allowed to become sown in your heart then these thoughts will begin to build their fortified house of thoughts. As the house is built, it becomes stronger and stronger. Eventually it becomes a fortress, it becomes the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. (Rev. 18:2) This is a vivid description of one who lives his life eating of the tree of knowledge, ruled by the sense “form of knowledge” gained from the fruit of that tree. Furthermore, this one’s address is found listed among the who’s who in the city of Babylon.

There are two cities mentioned throughout the Bible of where we can dwell. Jerusalem, which is the mother of us all, and the already mentioned city of Babylon. You will be found in one or the other! If you find yourself as an occupant of Babylon there has been a cry made to “come out of her” my people! Have you heard the cry? To those who have heard the cry, they make up the ones who have moved to a new home called the “New Jerusalem” situated on Mount Zion. These are the ones who have had their garments washed in the Blood of The Lamb and are before the throne of God day and night. These are the ones who have EXCHANGED their MIND for the MIND OF CHRIST. We’ve explained the Adamic mind, now let’s explain the Christ MIND.

Paul writing said, “LET this mind BE in you that was in Christ Jesus.” I have intentionally capitalized these two words to provide a simple way to understand the mind of Christ. For that is how it happens! We find the same words used at the beginning and formation of all things when God said...LET there BE…! A couple of questions are in order.

How do you “let?” How do you “be?” In either case, it requires no action on your part. In fact, by “letting” something take place you are actually permitting or allowing it to take place. If you tried to do it yourself, you would no longer be “letting” but doing! Secondly, by allowing the “letting” to take place you “BE”-come… whatever you “let!” Sounds confusing at first until you “hear” it! When you “hear” it, you have just discovered and realized the MIND OF CHRIST! It is no chore at all!

Maybe another question needs to be asked to fully understand this. Do you believe that when God spoke and said, “Let there be light” that it was great effort and work for light to BE? Since we know that God is Light we can quickly see that by “letting” the light just “be” it would be no effort whatsoever. Since God is light, He already had what was to be “let.” So He actually just “permitted” or “allowed” the light to BE! No problem or task at all, wouldn’t you say? Understanding that, can we take one more step and realize the Mind of Christ is donned the same way. You already have the Mind of Christ resident within you just as God already was LIGHT. Since you possess this mind already, would it be a hardship on you to “allow” (LET) it to “BE?” Of course not! So if it’s not hard to do why are not more allowing this mind to BE in them?

The obvious answer stares blatantly at us. We believe we do not (presently—right now) HAVE the MIND OF CHRIST because of being taught that we don’t or simply we have not discovered it yet! But if that be true and we don’t have the Mind of Christ, how is it possible for Paul to tell us to LET this mind BE in you if you do not have it. It’s impossible to LET something BE if you don’t have it, so how can we LET it BE in us if we don’t have it to BE? Are you now totally confused? Don’t be, for I can assure you that the Mind of Christ is resident within all people. However, one has to assume this mind before ever reaching the place of BE-ing. LET always comes before BE-ing. Shakespeare wrote the famous quote: “To be or not to be, that is the question.” Did he realize the value of those words? For that is the question of LIFE. Just as we explained earlier that the carnal mind is the mind that rules by a “form of knowledge” gained from sense knowledge. The process of the [carnal] mind is always thinking. However, Jesus said to “Take NO THOUGHT!” In other words, stop thinking and BE who you really are! Assume this mind that has been shut up within you for years!

Maybe we need to identify this mind of Christ a little more.

Have you ever heard said or possibly said it yourself, “I knew I should have _______!” (you can fill in the blanks). Well, where did that come from?

How about, “Something told me _____________!” Again I say, where did that come from? I suppose your answer will be the common denial, “That was my intuition” or “it was just coincidental.” Was it? Are you sure? Since you are still not convinced let’s dig a little deeper.

How about, “I don’t know, the answer just popped into my head!”

Or how about, “I felt like I needed to _____________. I can’t explain it, but when I listened and obeyed, I realized how ignorant I would have been to have NOT obeyed.”

Was that the “sixth” sense? Or was that instincts kicking in?

Contained within our “heavens” that we so blatantly want to refuse is these subtle commands issued from the foundational heart of your true being. So why is it hard to accept and identify? Why do you continually want to kick against the pricks? Could it be because that “other” mind (carnal) has you so convinced that everything around you is reality when in actuality, it is just the opposite.

I was talking to my wife about this and she spoke of the same thing happening to her just recently. And as we usually do, she said “something” told me to look again at some papers she was about to mail and, as we so often do, she argued back, “Why do I need to look at that again, I know it’s okay.” But once again the small voice spoke. So while still muttering under her breath, she reluctantly opened the envelope and, once again, went over the content to see if the “voice” was really true. (Does that sound familiar?) Of course, true to life, she found the most stupidest mistake and her words that a few seconds before were rather different became quite the opposite, “I’m so glad I didn’t mail that letter.”

So I must ask, what was it she heard or where did the “voice” come from? Obviously, it wasn’t from her, else, why would you argue with your own self? You see, we find ourselves doing this quite often…that is, arguing with ourselves (as we call it) but are we really arguing with ourselves? I think not! What is happening is that carnal mind is warring with the Christ mind who is trying to HELP you live your life to the fullest, not hurt you. Many times we “hear” the more "familiar" voice of Satan…the accuser, that we have a tendency to ignore the “true voice” because of the “uncertainty” of the words we have found too often NOT to be truly spoken from that Satanic voice of the carnal mind. We’ve listened to the accuser so much and found the words promised to prove themselves to be nothing more that outlandish lies hidden by a sheepskin of so-called truth. Hence the “wolf-wolf” crying syndrome causes such aggravations within the mind of the truth-seeker, that when the true voice speaks it is disregarded as quickly as the traducer’s.

Another reason we fail to recognize the TRUE VOICE is because this sense-led, devilish mind, which is so egotistical that it believes it knows all things, balks at any form of correction. And to the one who lives their life comprised of partaking of the knowledge tree, you will convince yourself that you do know everything you need to know to live a life that you are satisfied with. However, that life is always based upon WHAT YOU BELIEVE TO BE TRUE! And as we’ve said before, what you believe is the strongest thing in your life! Nevertheless, just because you believe something does NOT make it any more true than it is. You can tell yourself that red  is green all your life and will believe it to be so, but does that make it so? Not hardly! But since your ego has you convinced you know all the answers, you will never listen to the still, small Voice. You’ll pass it off as voices in your head before you’ll ever acknowledge that Christ Mind in you. That’s why the carnal mind is described as “enmity” (hatred) against God. Thus you find yourself waging “war” in your members. For the FLESH lusted AGAINST the SPIRIT, and the SPIRIT against the FLESH! Have you found this to be true in your life? So what are we to do?

The answer is rather simple: We must cease from thinking and learn to live and experience life from our true consciousness called the Mind of Christ. You may say that’s easier said than done. Really? If you would listen to what you’re saying, I believe you would be surprised at what comes out of your own mouth. And secondly, I also believe you would realize that it is not that hard to do. Maybe we could illustrate how simple it is versus how hard it appears to be by comparing it to the first day of school for a child, or maybe your first day on a job, or even the first time you ever drove a car, etc. That day and probably the preceding days and nights, were consumed by anxiety, fear, and the unknown [as well as the pre-conceived ideas you had built in your mind based upon assumptions of  little known facts]. Even some of those thoughts that lingered on and weren’t dashed to mere nothings, possibly continued their torment for days following. Yet if I could ask you today, does it bother you anymore to go to work or drive a car? Do you fret and worry about whether or not your “freshman” son or daughter will make it through the “first” grade? Of course not! Why is that? Because you JUST DO IT until the day YOU AND IT became ONE! You do not “think” about your work, you DO the work! Eventually it will come to you just as natural as if you had done that all your life. When you have reached that place you do not “think” about it, you “consciously” do it. That activity requires no thought on your part. It’s faith “WITH” WORKS attached!

It would be insane of me to tell you NOT to think. That’s impossible, for we think constantly. Just telling you not to think would cause you to think about not thinking, and when you try to think about not thinking you find that you are thinking, which is the very thought you were trying to not think! (Whew!)  Do you see how absurd that would be. What I am wanting you to realize is the fact that the “work” of thinking produces NOTHING! How many times have your heard the phrase, “Just stop and think about that”…which is just what happens! Everything STOPS! Or maybe you say, “Let’s sit down and think about this.” Once again, all activity has ceased…so we sit down and “think about it.” Thinking about anything ceases all activity. It is almost as though the process of “thinking” requires the complete attention of the functions of the mind, so all current activity must cease so “thinking” can take place.

Let’s talk about this process we seemed so dogmatically attached to called thinking. Thinking usually approaches thoughts from one of two perspectives. From the one angle, thinking is superficially shallow and usually leads the thinker to self-accusing, condemning thought patterns that only lead to frustration, condemnation, and guilt. Just as birds represent thoughts, these are the ones generally found on the side of the road eating some dead, stinking, rotting animal. From the other approach, these thoughts attempt to ascend into the heavens to hear unspeakable words of glory, praise, and honor, yet it only hears words of self-worth, self-glory, self-praise, and all other sorts of egotistical lies and illusions. These are like clouds without water promising the dry thirsty soul a possible shower, yet there’s nothing there. Only a mirage in the desert.

Please don’t think I am against “thinking.” I think all the time, but I have also realized the fruitlessness of the “thinking” activity. For I have discovered that within us there is ANOTHER MIND called the Christ mind and the thoughts that proceed from that mind are the ones that need to be heeded and obeyed. It is from this mind that the desires of Father comes into expression through your life and into the world. If you don’t understand how inventions, books, music, art, etc., and other “intellectual property” are ever conceived, you’ve yet to realize those things were created, formed, and proceeded from the Christ mind.

You can tell the difference between a Christ-mind idea and a carnal-minded one by the fruit. Christ minded subjects operate in and from a pure un-adulterated word, whereas carnal minded folk mimic or imitate the original. It’s always a copy of the original, lacking in quality and value. The true hearer of the voice of the Father will bear witness within themselves as to the truth of the origin of the word. In other words, you know when it’s you and when it’s not. At first you may question where that “word” came from and was that “you.” But as you become more and more acclimated to the voice of Father and as the fellowship experiences come closer and closer together, the doubts of the origin of the Word grows less and less and the authenticity grows stronger. Then you begin to realize just how fruitless “carnal thinking” really was! Because now you have discovered your true consciousness.

We’ve wrote in another article about the heavens of you, but it bears repeating. Because, just as we’ve reiterated, the carnal and the spiritual mind of you is at war. Let me included a scripture found in Revelations 12:7-11: And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.  And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.  And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.  And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

The heavens is IN YOU! That is the place where the invisible part of you exists. Namely, your soul and spirit. The soul represents the area that contains your carnal mind, and the spirit representing the area of your Christ mind. But…there was war in heaven…! And Satan (we now know who that is) was cast out! This scripture is a direct fulfillment of this entire article, if you can hear it. We’ve said it before and now say it again, what began in the garden as a serpent has ended up a dragon in Revelations.

And there was war in HEAVEN …flesh against Spirit--Spirit against flesh. The carnal mind and all it’s thoughts are fighting with the directives of the Christ mind and its instructions. But as the SPIRIT (Christ Mind) prevails, there is no place found anymore in the heavens of you for Satan and his angels. That will always happen when the Christ Mind PREVAILS!…There is no room or need for the carnal mind. When the carnal mind is cast out of the heavens of you, notice what happens. Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ:

Isn’t that worth losing your carnal mind? For by exchanging your mind for the Christ mind you receive salvation, strength, the kingdom of our God, and the POWER OF CHRIST! Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus! Christ the Son of God!

May the Spirit of Truth quicken these words to your spirit!
